STI is currently enrolling for both the day and evening Medical Assisting Programs which prepare graduates to be eligible to become Certified Medical Assistants.聽 The full-time, day time program begins in September and the part-time, evening program begins in January.
Current Medical Assisting students were taught aseptic hand washing which is the technique that involves applying strict rules to minimize the risk of infection. Healthcare workers use aseptic technique in surgery rooms, clinics, outpatient care centers and other health care settings.
Another lab involved using the DermaScan as part of their study of the Integumentary system- hair, skin and nails. Students learned how to keep skin healthy and avoid sun damage. A brief look at one’s face in a DermaScan can be helpful in illuminating the damage the sun has caused, even from decades ago.
